Responsibilities
- Training: All new Faculty Members receive specific training in teaching techniques, use of an electronic learning platform, policies and degree programs of the School or College, socialization into the Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity of student work (including use of www.turnitin.com), and research supervision of theses and dissertations.
- Course Teaching: Faculty Members are assigned a course taught using the eCollege platform and are responsible for interacting with students within this platform. Classroom Discussion Boards are open 24/7. Posts should be timely per the Faculty Handbook or other Walden criteria. Responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours. Faculty Members verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions and provide feedback and grades through Blackboard.
- Availability: Faculty members are expected to be reasonably accessible to students outside the course discussion board and to provide substantive feedback on assignments and postings. Availability should be published via syllabi, classroom instructor information, or other documents, with regular and predictable online office hours or chats.
- Residencies: Faculty Members may be required to attend Residencies domestically or internationally to teach intensives and colloquia and facilitate discussions; part-time faculty may be required or may not be required to attend.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- PhD in the field of study or closely related field (or recognized by a country’s Ministry of Education or Council of Higher Education).
- 3+ years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program (preferred).
- 2+ years online or technology-enabled instruction experience.
- Must have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and monitor; ability to use Microsoft Office products, zip software, and Adobe Acrobat; reliable Internet access with alternate access if needed.
- Candidates should possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field, including practical experience in the field of study.
- Commitment to meeting the learning needs of students in distance education; experience with distance learning preferred.
- Credentialing: Faculty Members must have an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country’s ministry of education, and may be licensed or license-eligible for certain programs. Licenses and certifications must be maintained as required.
- Faculty Members are expected to stay current with research by reviewing articles and presentations and may publish while acknowledging Walden University.

In support of pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this position is as follows:
- Contributing Faculty TempoInstruction: $970.00 per Month, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors such as course type, experience, training, location, licensure, market factors, budgets, and responsibility. Walden also offers opportunities such as dissertation/doctoral committee chair positions, research reviewing, and mentoring.
