Job description

The Contracts Department Paralegal is responsible for overseeing and supporting the company’s construction contracting activities, including the administration of agreements and related compliance obligations. This role partners closely with Operations and cross-functional teams to ensure timely contract execution, minimize contractual risk, and promote efficient project delivery. The ideal candidate brings experience with utility and private construction contracts, along with a strong working knowledge of insurance and bonding requirements within the construction industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Review, draft, redline, and negotiate upstream and downstream construction contracts, including customer agreements and subcontracts.
  • Review and negotiate NDAs, vendor agreements, credit applications, and other commercial documents.
  • Identify contractual risks and recommend appropriate revisions or escalation to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual insurance and bonding requirements, including requesting, reviewing, and tracking certificates of insurance, endorsements, and bonds.
  • Partner with Operations throughout the project lifecycle to support contract execution, administration, and issue resolution.
  • Assist with dispute resolution efforts, claim documentation, and contract‑related negotiations.
  • Maintain organized and accurate contract files, logs, and tracking systems to ensure proper documentation and audit readiness.
  • Support continuous improvement of contract processes and documentation standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree and paralegal certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in contract review and administration; construction industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with insurance and bonding compliance in construction contracts preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Occasional travel to conferences and meetings will be required.
