Sundt Construction is seeking a Contracts professional in Tempe, AZ to negotiate terms and conditions of construction contracts with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. The role emphasizes developing, reviewing, and negotiating agreements from start to finish, in collaboration with our legal and procurement teams.

The ideal candidate has a four-year Engineering/Construction Management degree, 5+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with lnEight and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Four-year Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• lnEight Software experience highly encouraged.
• Past experience as Engineer/Project Manager/Estimator preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors from start to finish.
• Analyze prime/subcontract insurance certificates and verify coverage.
• Develop contracts using the lnEight system.
• Coordinate with legal to finalize terms and amendments.
• Support procurement meetings and provide legal guidance to the team.
• Draft subcontracts and purchase orders for construction projects.

Job Summary

You will be expected to negotiate terms and conditions on contracts for construction procurement for awarded projects. Your role will have a heavy focus on developing, reviewing and negotiating contracts with subcontractors, vendors, services, and suppliers from start to finish on all agreement types.

Individuals with experience in an engineering and/or construction related role preferred, as well as basic contracts review/development/negotiation experience is desired. We're looking for a team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives. Someone that is detail-oriented, highly motivated with the ability to effectively manage time.

Key Responsibilities

• Able to communicate via phone and/or email to solve problems quickly.
• Analyze and understand prime and subcontract insurance certificates; interact with contract administrators to ensure appropriate evidence of insurance coverage is provided prior to contract execution.
• Detailed and organized work ethic to help facilitate reviews and make sure items are proceeding promptly.
• Develop contracts, using our lnEight system.
• In co-operation with the legal department, will assist in negotiating the terms and conditions of agreements, and documenting and agreeing on any changes or amendments required.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors when required.
• Responsible for assisting in establishing, negotiating, and ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of Sundt's agreements.
• Support procurement staff meetings and provide legal communication to the team as needed.
• The ideal candidate will have the ability to draft subcontracts and purchase orders for construction projects. Knowledge of unit price contracts is beneficial.
• Understanding of construction estimates and budgets.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
• Four-year Engineering, Construction Management Degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience 5 or more years.
• lnEight Software experience highly encouraged.
• Past experience as an Engineer, Project Manager, or Estimator is desired but not required.
• Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
