Job summary

GM Defense seeks an experienced contracts professional to manage DoD contracts from cradle to grave, including capture, award, and closeout. The role interfaces with senior leadership and DoD/government stakeholders to ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and internal policies.

The successful candidate will draft agreements, oversee subcontracts, and drive action-tracking and change management across programs, while maintaining strong customer relationships and program integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years of progressive DoD/government contracts management experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee.
  • U.S. citizenship required to comply with federal government contract provisions.

Job description

Provide proactive contract and subcontract management support for GM Defense programs from capture through execution and closeout
Lead contracts and subcontract management for assigned programs
Report to the cognizant Contracts Manager for the relevant line of business
Interface with internal senior leadership across the global organization
Interface with DoD personnel, governmental and non-governmental agencies, and international customers
Ensure compliance with GM Defense policies, procedures, work instructions, government regulations, and contract requirements
Develop creative and innovative solutions with the Business Areas
Administer and manage contracts from cradle to grave
Support implementation of Federal Contracting processes and procedures
Assist with bid and proposal activities
Research compliance issues, interpret regulations, and formulate recommendations using OTA, FAR, and DFARS knowledge
Draft contractual documents, including NDAs, Teaming Agreements, and Subcontract Agreements
Develop and maintain action-tracking, timely-closure, and change-management processes
Manage subcontracts and support unique purchasing through compliant procurement processes
Attend and participate in key meetings concerning contractual matters
Maintain relationships with key GM Defense Government Contract stakeholders

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years of progressive DoD and/or federal government contracts management experience
  • Working knowledge of the end-to-end contract process, including pre-award, award, post-award, and contract closeout
  • Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee
  • U.S. citizenship required to comply with federal government contract provisions
  • Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated success negotiating DoD and/or federal government contracts
  • Strong customer relationship skills with experience in U.S. DoD and/or federal government contracts
  • Subcontracting experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Intermediate understanding of and ability to interpret and apply FAR and DFARS
  • Strong track record of contracts/subcontracts performance within an organization
  • Ability to achieve goals through influencing, partnering, and developing productive relationships with senior leadership and Contracts teams
  • Ability to communicate complex contract issues to company executives and external representatives
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Preferred: experience with Part 12 contracting and implementing commercial technology in military applications, including subcontracting
  • Preferred: ability to understand vehicle and engineering technologies, including hardware and software in the automotive industry
  • Preferred: ability to interpret and/or understand financial data
  • Preferred: large public company experience in government contracting, with DoD preferred
  • No GM immigration sponsorship available now or in the future
  • Position is subject to export control restrictions
  • Must be able to travel worldwide, including to Washington, DC, Concord, NC, and other customer locations
