Job summary

Structural Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager for our Columbia, MD location to support contract management for multiple lines.

You will review, analyze and negotiate prime contracts and subcontracts with external customers as well as back up licensing and corporate organizational duties. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, 5–7 years in contract management, and strong drafting, revision and negotiation skills, with working knowledge of

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; paralegal minor or certificate preferred.
  • 5–7 years of contract management experience including drafting, revision and negotiation of construction contracts and subcontracts.
  • Prior experience with a construction company in a similar role is desirable.
  • Contract and construction law knowledge with understanding of contracting concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, analyzing and negotiating Company contracts to ensure compliance with laws, policies and project requirements.
  • Identify risks and issues with contract documents while assessing terms and conditions.
  • Draft standard legal documents including subcontracts, waivers and purchase orders.
  • Participate in initiatives to establish and improve department procedures.
  • Support contract dispute resolution and litigation management activities.
  • Maintain a contracts database and monitor expiration dates.
  • Assist Business Development and Estimating with proposal preparation and bid review.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager to support our business needs. This position will be based in our Columbia, MD location. As a Contracts Manager, you willprimarilybe accountable for supporting contract management needs forone or more ofStructural’sbusiness lines. The Contracts Manager will effectively manage multiple contract assignments simultaneously and will include reviewing, evaluating, modifying, and negotiating prime contracts and subcontract documents with external customers.The successful candidate will also serve as backup for the licensing and corporate organizational position within the department.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for:
  • Reviewing, analyzing and negotiating Company contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Company’s guidelines for contract review, corporate policies and project requirements. These contracts include, but are not limited to, construction contracts, purchase orders, service agreements and tiered subcontract agreements.

  • Identifying risks and issues with contract documents while assessing terms and conditions on all assigned contracts

  • Drafting standard legal documents to include subcontracts, waivers, purchase orders, etc.

  • Participating in initiatives to establish, implement and improve department procedures.

  • Supporting all aspects of contract dispute resolution, including assisting with litigation management and other dispute resolution. This includes, but is not limited to, responding to discovery requests, and maintaining claim documentation.

  • Maintaining a contracts database and monitoring agreement expiration dates.

  • Assisting Business Development and Estimating personnel with proposal preparation and reviewing bid documents.

  • Communicating and collaborating with internal and external customers.

Successful candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this position:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field of study;minor in paralegal studies or a paralegal certificate preferred.

  • Minimum of 5-7years’ experience workingin contract management to include drafting, revision and negotiation of construction contracts and subcontracts; some in-house legal or contracts management department experience desirable.

  • Prior experience working for a construction company in a similar roledesirable.

  • Contract and construction law experience with a working knowledge of contracting concepts.

  • Working understanding of commercial insurance common in the construction industry ispreferred.

  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.

  • This position pays between $90k - $105k, with a bonus,and is based on experience.
