Overview

Help accelerate medical breakthroughs by building strong partnerships. Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Contracts Attorney to join our legal team and support global operations. This role is ideal for an attorney with law firm training and in-house experience who thrives on negotiation, risk assessment, and providing practical guidance to business teams. Experience in life sciences or biotech is strongly valued.

The Role

In this position, you will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements that underpin our business, including non-disclosure agreements, vendor agreements, master product and service contracts, and consulting agreements. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across procurement, finance, IT, and sales to balance risk with business needs while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

Success in this role requires strong contract drafting skills, sound legal judgment, and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to Taconic’s mission of enabling scientific discoveries that improve human health.

Core Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of contracts.
  • Provide legal guidance on contractual rights, obligations, and risks to business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align contract terms with company goals.
  • Support contract lifecycle management, including tracking, renewals, and terminations.
  • Maintain and update standard templates, playbooks, and provide training on contract requirements.
  • Stay current on applicable laws and regulations relevant to the business.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, and active, good standing membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience focused on contract law and transactional work.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Life sciences or biotechnology industry experience.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property concepts.
  • Experience with contract management systems.

Location & Travel
  • This is a primarily remote position (approximately 90%).
  • Occasional ad-hoc travel to Taconic’s New York sites (Germantown, NY and Rensselaer, NY).
  • Candidates located within a three-hour drive of these sites are preferred.
  • Estimated travel: 2–5 trips per year.
