Job summary

Valor Healthcare seeks independent contractors (MD/DO, NP, or PA) to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans applying for VA disability compensation. Exams involve focused assessments, record review, and potential medical opinions.

Schedule is every Saturday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with compensation per DBQ level and reimbursements for training, no-shows, and follow-ups. Qualified candidates must hold an MD/DO, NP, or PA credential and be US citizens.

Qualifications

• MD/DO: Graduate of an accredited school of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Degree. Board certification is preferred but not required.
• NP: Graduate of a CCNE/ACEN-accredited nursing program; board certification if not accredited.
• PA: Graduate of an ARC-PA-accredited PA program; board certification if not accredited.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical disability exams for Veterans by reviewing history, completing focused physical assessments, and evaluating how conditions affect daily functioning.
• Review medical records, test results, and supporting documentation to understand health status; home charting may be required.
• Provide objective, evidence-based medical opinions on the nature and impact of claimed conditions on work and daily activities.
• Use the case management system to organize workload, submit findings, and communicate with the QA team.
• Collaborate with clinicians and specialists as needed and document clear, accurate reports that meet VA guidelines and contract requirements.
• Manage time effectively, maintain availability, and support timely scheduling and completion of all C&P examinations.
• Follow all applicable laws, regulations, quality standards, VA training requirements, and Medical Disability Examination program updates.
• Protect patient confidentiality and maintain HIPAA compliance, including annual training and assessments.
