Job summary

Allied Instructional is seeking certified Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Mobile, Alabama, to join a team of independent contractors. TVIs work itinerantly in person in local school divisions to support students with visual impairments.

Both part-time and full-time opportunities are available! The TVI will assess and contribute to IEPs and 504 plans, apply best practices, and use low- and high-tech assistive technologies.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Professional License in visual impairment.
• Preferred work-related experience as a TVI.
• Strong knowledge of special education regulations and IEPs.
• Experience conducting FVALMA assessments and recommendations.
• Knowledge of Braille and low vision skills.
• Ability to collaborate with parents, staff and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessments and services to school-aged students.
• Develop and implement IEPs and 504 plans for visual impairments.
• Collaborate with educational teams in local school divisions.
• Provide consultation and training to teachers and service providers.
