Contract Opportunity: Program Director (Child Nutrition Education Network)
Foundation for Fresh Produce
The Foundation for Fresh Produce (The Foundation) is seeking a contractor to serve as Program Director for the Child Nutrition Education Network (The Network). This is a project-based engagement with flexible terms and scope, designed for an experienced leader in program management, children’s nutrition education, and stakeholder engagement.
Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for leading and delivering core activities of The Network, including:
Program Management
- Oversee and coordinate network activities, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and KPIs.
- Design and deliver an annual leadership fellowship retreat (content development, speaker recruitment, experiential learning, peer exchange, and partner facilitation).
- Serve as primary point of contact and spokesperson for the Network with participants, funders, media, and conferences.
- Expand strategic partnerships and refine the fellowship’s value proposition to participants.
Implementation & Execution
- Ensuring some operational needs for newsletter, social media and website are met
- Plan and facilitate virtual meetings and contribute to external communications (web content, LinkedIn, press releases).
- Develop and manage project plans and timelines within budget.
- Coordinate with Foundation staff to ensure seamless integration with other initiatives.
Fundraising & Development Support
- Collaborate with fundraising colleagues to secure industry donors, grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
- Contribute to donor cultivation and support the growth of the program in underrepresented regions.
Thought Leadership
- Represent the Child Nutrition Education Network at conferences, summits, and industry events.
- Act as ambassador for the program to stakeholders in public health, education, and food systems.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in program design and management, ideally within children’s health, food literacy, or nonprofit/philanthropic networks.
- Strong record of stakeholder engagement and facilitation (including donors, nonprofit leaders, funders).
- Experience in fundraising support and/or grant-related work.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of nutrition, fruits and vegetables, and public health preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or RDN credential preferred.
Deliverables / Success Indicators
- Delivery of the annual fellowship retreat with strong participant satisfaction.
- Growth in participation, partnerships, and funding commitments.
- Strengthened visibility and positioning of The Network through thought leadership.
Contract Details
- Engagement will average 15-20 hours/week with flexibility based on project milestones.
- Anticipated travel: 2–4 trips per year (domestic and/or international).
- Contract term: 12/18 months with renewal potential.
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience; to be negotiated.
