The Opportunity...

We are seeking a dedicated Outreach Specialist to help grow GRID’s network of clean energy contractors across the country. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and engaging qualified contractors, building interest in our network, and coordinating their onboarding experience.

The Outreach Specialist will use informed judgment to assess each contractor’s capabilities, values, and readiness to participate in GRID’s contractor network. You’ll also represent GRID at events, presentations, and webinars, playing a key role in shaping the future of our national contractor network.

Responsibilities:

  • Contractor Outreach & Recruitment: Identify and connect with potential solar, electrical, and construction contractors across target geographies to build interest in joining GRID’s contractor network.
  • Presentation & Event Engagement: Represent GRID at conferences, webinars, trainings, and partner events to present the opportunity and expand our network visibility.
  • Contractor Vetting: Evaluate prospective contractors to determine readiness to enter contractor network
  • Onboarding Coordination: Guide interested contractors through the application process, including document collection, needs assessments, training requirements, and agreement execution (e.g., MSAs and Code of Conduct).
  • Contractor Trainings: Facilitate contractor training sessions on GRID resources, guidelines, and codes of conduct to prepare contractors for approval into network.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with the Sr Contractor Program Manager, Contractor Specialist, and training team to ensure smooth handoff from recruitment to ongoing contractor engagement.
  • Data Tracking & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date records of outreach efforts, onboarding progress, and status recommendations.

What you need to bring to this role...

  • Outreach or Recruiting Experience: Background in outreach, training, partner engagement, and/or recruiting; ideally in the solar, construction, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Sharp Judgment & Vetting Skills: Ability to quickly assess contractors' business practices, workforce capacity, safety culture, and mission alignment.
  • Presentation Skills: Confidence and clarity in delivering GRID’s value proposition at events, webinars, or meetings with diverse audiences.
  • Process Coordination: Detail-oriented approach to tracking onboarding steps and ensuring contractors complete all requirements.
  • Tech Proficiency: Ability to navigate onboarding systems, CRMs, shared drives, and communication platforms. GSuite experience required.
  • Empathy & Accountability: A passion for helping others succeed, balanced with the ability to hold contractors accountable to program requirements tactfully.
  • Equity & Inclusion Commitment: A fundamental commitment to equity, diversity, and community-based development aligned with GRID’s mission.
  • Community engagement: Experience effectively engaging with individuals from a wide range of cultural, socioeconomic, and demographic backgrounds.

It would be great if you also had...

  • Experience working with solar contractors, energy service providers, or workforce development programs.
  • Background in hosting online training sessions.
  • Understanding of contractor vetting or compliance processes.
  • Experience organizing or speaking at events/webinars.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills (Spanish strongly preferred).

Where you will sit & the places you may go…

This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($65k- $75k annually), plus the benefits listed below.
