Job summary

FamilyCore is seeking a Maintenance Resource to support maintenance, appearance, safety, and functionality of the facility on a part-time contract basis. This role includes setting up for meetings, cleaning tasks, basic repairs, and grounds upkeep to keep spaces clean, safe, and operational.

As a contract part-time position, no company-sponsored benefits are provided. The anticipated schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in facilities maintenance or custodial preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and repair techniques.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Pass background check with DCFS.

Responsibilities

• Set up and arrange tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings and events.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks including carpet spot removal and furniture cleaning.
• Replace interior and exterior light bulbs.
• Complete painting projects and touch-ups.
• Perform minor plumbing maintenance including toilets and fixtures.
• Assist with moving furniture and other tasks as directed.
• Maintain dehumidifiers and drainage lines.
• Inspect and replace emergency lighting, exit signs, and floodlights.
• Perform basic grounds maintenance including weed control and litter removal.
• Clean exterior building features and drainage areas around loading dock.
• Perform minor repairs to walls, doors, outlets, ceilings tiles, and other building components.
• Maintain safe and organized work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations.

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Resource role is responsible for supporting the maintenance, appearance, safety, and functionality of the facility through routine maintenance, repairs, custodial support, event setup, and grounds upkeep. This part-time contract position ensures building systems, equipment, and workspaces remain clean, safe, and operational while providing general facility support and performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and arrange tables, chairs, partitions, and other equipment for meetings, training sessions, and special events.
• Perform routine and specialized cleaning tasks, including carpet spot removal and furniture cleaning.
• Replace interior and exterior light bulbs as needed.
• Complete painting projects and touch-up work as assigned.
• Perform minor plumbing maintenance, including maintaining toilets and related fixtures.
• Assist with moving furniture, painting, and other tasks in office and staff as requested and approved by the Operations Director
• Maintain dehumidifiers, including filters, buckets, and drainage lines.
• Inspect and replace emergency lighting, exit signs, and floodlights monthly or as needed.
• Perform basic grounds maintenance, including weed control, plant care, and removal of litter and leaves.
• Clean exterior building features, including canopies and fascia.
• Clean and maintain drainage areas in and around loading dock and garage door access points.
• Perform minor repairs to walls, carpet, doors, outlets, ceiling tiles, and other building components.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations.

Requirements:

• Valid Form W-9 and current certificate of insurance (COI) demonstrating applicable coverage.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous facilities maintenance, building maintenance, custodial, or handyman experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and repair techniques.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
• Must pass required background check with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull, climb ladders, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to lift, carry, move, push, and pull materials, supplies, furniture, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, hand tools, power tools, and standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and telephones.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including office spaces, conference rooms, mechanical areas, and building grounds.
• Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, cleaning chemicals, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to perform duties safely and effectively while working independently and managing changing priorities.
• Anticipated Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (approximately 5 hours per week). Additional hours may be required for special projects, facility needs, or maintenance activities outside the regular schedule, including weekends and holidays.
