Job summary

Concordia University, St. Paul seeks a course instructor to teach OP 515: Clinical Considerations of Upper Extremity Orthotic Management, turning real-world orthotics expertise into hands-on learning for MSOP students.

You will deliver online instruction, engage students actively, and provide timely feedback within the LMS while collaborating with the academic team to support student success. Licensure as CO or CPO is required; 10,000 hours of content-area experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field with required experience (10,000 hours) in the content area.
• Ph.D. or Ed.D in Orthotics/Prosthetics is preferred; doctoral in unrelated field acceptable if topic fits.

Position Overview:Shape the next generation of clinical leaders by turning your real-world expertise in upper extremity orthotics into impactful, hands-on learning for our MSOP students.Faculty at Concordia University, St. Paul work as members of an academic team of full- and part-time colleagues to consistently deliver high-quality instruction to students. Course Description:OP 515 Clinical Considerations of Upper Extremity Orthotic Management- This course integrates the knowledge gained through rehabilitation, orthopedic and functional assessment and incorporates the information into a treatment plan. Techniques are then applied through the implementation of orthotic treatment protocol. Students will research, design, fabricate, and fit upper extremity orthoses.

Course Instruction Responsibilities

• Facilitate quality student learning through teaching assigned courses.
• Increase student course engagement by providing a positive and regular presence within the course (at least four days per week for online courses) by engaging students through course activities and ongoing availability to provide student support.
• Provide substantive and timely feedback on course assessments, following academic unit and university guidelines, within the Learning Management System, typically within five business days of the assessments’ due dates.
• Respond to student inquiries typically within 24 hours during business days unless otherwise specified at the college level (48 hours on weekends, with closer monitoring if assignments are due during the weekend or on Monday).
• Work collaboratively in a supportive academic environment, partnering with academic advising, career development, and the academic team to ensure each student has the resources they need to succeed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Follow the university and academic unit’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Education Required: Options: (1) Master's degree in a related field if the colleague meets Required (Tested) Experience requirement. (2) Master's degree in an unrelated field can be acceptable if the colleague meets Required (Tested) Experience requirement.
• Education Preferred: Ph.D. or Ed.D in an Orthotics and Prosthetics related field is top preference; doctoral degree in an unrelated field can be acceptable depending on the topic.
• Experience Required: (1) For colleagues possessing a doctorate in a related discipline, tested experience is not required. (2) For colleagues possessing a master's degree in a related discipline, tested experience is required. (3) For colleagues possessing an unrelated advanced degree (e.g., master's in education), tested experience is required. Tested experience requires 10,000 hours in the content area of the course.
• Experience Preferred: Online teaching experience preferred.
• Additional Certifications/Licensures: Required: Certified Orthotist (CO) or Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO). Please ensure a copy of the candidate's licensure is on file for accreditation purposes.
