Job summary

Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Kentucky is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to administer respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies. The role trains and acts as a resource for department technicians.

You will perform diagnostic pulmonary and cardiac tests, operate ventilators and related equipment, monitor patient responses, and respond to code blue calls under medical direction.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Licensed through the Ohio Respiratory Care Board.
• One year healthcare experience preferred.
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS approved by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and recommends respiratory therapy treatments.
• Plans, prepares, and administers respiratory therapy treatments including aerosol, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, and sputum inductions.
• Performs diagnostic pulmonary and cardiac tests.
• Records patient treatment, response, and progress.
• Operates respiratory therapy equipment and ensures safety.
• Responds to code blue calls and assists by maintaining airway and performing CPR.
• Reads prescriptions, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to determine treatment needs.
• Sets up and operates ventilators and related gas administration equipment.
• Monitors vital signs, ABGs, and blood chemistry during therapy.
• Maintains patient charts and communicates with physicians.
