Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a temporary/contract Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality care at East Baltimore and Homewood Campuses. The role focuses on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, health promotion, and continuity of care in a university health setting.

Requirements include a Master’s in nursing, Maryland NP license, and two to four years of NP experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing and Maryland NP licensure.
• Certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner.
• Two to four years of Nurse Practitioner experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current Nurse Practitioner license in Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally responsive, affirming, and evidence-based care that supports the diversity, equity, and inclusion values of SHWB.
• Conduct comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments; obtain medical histories; perform screenings and physical examinations; order and interpret diagnostic tests; diagnose acute and chronic conditions; and prescribe appropriate medications and treatments.
• Educate patients with a strong emphasis on health maintenance, preventive care, and informed self-management.
• Promote continuity of care by coordinating available healthcare services and making appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies.
• Organize time and workload to meet patient, staff, and departmental needs, and assume responsibility for clinical and administrative decisions that affect people, costs, and service quality.
• Participate in peer chart review, laboratory proficiency testing, quality-control activities, and other quality-improvement efforts.
• Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record in accordance with applicable medical, legal, regulatory, accreditation, and SHWB requirements.
• Attend SHWB meetings, participate in SHWB Primary Care committees, and pursue continuing education and professional development.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
