Contract Network Engineer (Part-Time, Remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Network Engineer to join our team on a part-time, remote basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to contribute to our growing infrastructure with the potential for a long-term engagement.

About the Role:

As a Contract Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, optimizing, and expanding our robust network infrastructure. You will be responsible for configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting various network devices and systems, ensuring high availability and performance. This position requires a commitment of 3-4 hours per day, 5 days a week, with flexible morning or afternoon hours to accommodate your schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Configure, deploy, and manage Mikrotik switches and routers.

Implement and maintain Fiberstore switches.

Design, configure, and troubleshoot VLANs to segment network traffic.

Manage and optimize BGP routing protocols.

Configure and maintain VPN solutions for secure connectivity.

Administer and support virtualized environments using ESXi and XCP-ng hypervisors.

Understand and effectively manage a bonded router and switch network topology.

Monitor network performance and identify areas for improvement.

Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide timely resolutions.

Collaborate with the broader technical team to implement network changes and projects.

Document network configurations and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Mikrotik switches and routers.

Proven experience with Fiberstore switches.

Strong understanding and practical experience with VLANs.

Demonstrable experience with BGP configuration and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in setting up and managing VPN connections.

Experience with ESXi and XCP-ng hypervisors.

In-depth knowledge and practical experience with a bonded router and switch network topology.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Must reside in the USA (preferably the Atlanta area, but not required).

Willingness to travel to Wiretap Telecom data centers on a need-to-basis.

This is a 100% remote contract opportunity. You will be expected to have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace.
