Job summary

Emergent Software is seeking a contract Business Analyst / Technical Writer in Bloomington, MN for 6 months with potential for long-term hire. Role combines BA, technical writing, and process improvement to document end-to-end processes and build a centralized P&P repository.

The ideal candidate has mortgage industry experience, hands-on LOS knowledge, and strong stakeholder engagement to create clear documentation, SOPs, and reporting materials.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in business analysis or technical writing.
• Mortgage industry experience required.
• Experience with Loan Origination System (LOS).
• Proven ability to document processes and SOPs.
• Strong requirements elicitation and stakeholder facilitation.

Responsibilities

• Document end-to-end business processes, workflows, system interactions, handoffs, exceptions, and decision points.
• Facilitate interviews, workshops, and sessions with SMEs to gather requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear requirements for operations, tech, and development teams.
• Develop and organize a centralized Process & Procedure repository with standards and version control.
• Create and maintain SOPs, process maps, job aids, and training materials.
• Analyze processes to identify gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities.
• Validate documented processes against LOS functionality and related systems.
• Develop process-flow diagrams using Visio or similar tools.
• Coordinate and/or execute testing activities for system changes.
• Support ad hoc and recurring reporting on process performance.
• Maintain documentation as processes evolve.
• Escalate risks and track project status to Product Owner/PM.
