Job summary

Durin in El Segundo is seeking an experienced MIG welder for a 2-6 week contract to complete a large, pre-fit steel weldment and support other structural welding on the drill-rig build. Production MIG or FCAW will be used; TIG is not required.

The role is on-site, and reliability for the full contract is essential. You should have several years of hands-on steel welding, read fabrication drawings and weld symbols, and be able to work in tight spaces.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on structural or production welding on steel.
• Proficient with GMAW (MIG) and FCAW processes.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
• Comfortable with fit-up, grinding, and shop tools.
• Safety-minded with a clean work area.
• Reliable and available on-site for the full 2–6 week contract.

Responsibilities

• Weld steel structures and frames using MIG (GMAW) and/or FCAW for drilling equipment.
• Finish welds on a large partially fit weldment and access tight spots.
• Perform fit-up, tacking, grinding, and weld cleanup; repair welds as needed.
• Read fabrication drawings and weld symbols; flag issues before rework.
• Manage heat and distortion on long structures to maintain alignment within tolerance.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow shop safety rules and PPE at shift end.
• Report to Nelson and coordinate with engineering and assembly on a tight schedule.
