Job summary

Bombardier's Learjet Inc. in Tucson is seeking a Mechanical Designer Engineer (Contract) to support interior and structural modifications of aircraft. You will prepare drawings and specification documents for parts and floorplan changes, collaborating with teams and suppliers.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or 5+ years of aviation design experience, and are proficient with AutoCAD or CATIA, plus regulatory know-how and strong communication.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Eng or 5+ years aviation design exp.
• Proficient with AutoCAD or CATIA.
• Working knowledge of FAA, EASA, TCCA regulations.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Self-starter capable of handling multiple initiatives.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Organized and able to collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all necessary documents to support interior and structural modification drawings, specs and substantiation reports.
• Coordinate with outside suppliers, internal departments and regulatory agencies for design, installation, integration and certification of new interior components.
• Research specifications for component selection and ensure supplier conformance.
• Support statement of work creation and bids for new customer requests.
• Assist service center in investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving build/modification and test issues; create deviation drawings.
• Work in a team environment.

In your role, you will:

• Prepare all necessary documents to support the interior and structural modification of Bombardier aircraft such as detail, assembly and installation drawings, specification documents and substantiation reports.
• Coordinate with outside suppliers, internal departments and regulatory agencies regarding the design, installation, integration, and certification of new interior components to support floorplan modifications.
• Research specification for component selection. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure specifications are met.
• Support statement of work creation and bids for new customer requests.
• Assist service center personnel in investigating, troubleshooting, and resolution of build/modification and test issues and create deviation drawings as required.
• Work in a team environment

How to thrive in this role?

As our ideal candidate

• You will hold a Bachelor of Science Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with five (5) years relevant experience or will have a minimum of ten (10) years of practical mechanical design experience in aviation.
• You are proficient creating mechanical drawings using AutoCad or CATIA (preferred)
• You will have a working knowledge of applicable regulatory certification rules (FAA, EASA, TCCA).
• You will be proficient with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
• You must be a self-starter and able to handle multiple initiatives effectively.
• You must exhibit excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• You should be an organized individual, able to work effectively with a variety of cross-functional individuals, departments and organizations with a general good attitude and disposition.
