Job summary

Quaker Houghton is seeking an experienced professional to support Contract Manufacturing management in negotiating rates, coordinating capacity, and qualifying new CM suppliers. You will partner with Product Management, SCD, QA, and Logistics to maintain material flow and optimize costs across sites.

This role also involves audits, reporting, and maintaining CM records to support ISO/SOX compliance, with up to 15% travel to CM sites for audits and trials.

Responsibilities

• Assist CM Manager in negotiating CM rates and preparing bid packets.
• Collaborate with Product Management and SCD to ensure CM capacity aligns with strategic plans.
• Qualify new contract manufacturers with SCD and QA.
• Manage storage of materials at CM sites, set stocking levels and perform cycle counts; select carriers.
• Provide leadership to resolve material, shipping or operational issues to minimize costs and delays.
• Monitor costs and performance metrics; investigate CPRs and implement corrective actions.
• Perform JDE transactions including Item Setups, BOM and routings.
• Compile, store and retrieve production data; produce reports for position customers.
• Maintain relationships with position customers and meet needs.
• Assist CM Manager in implementing policies and procedures and recommending improvements.
• Investigate billing/invoice discrepancies from CM sites and suppliers.
• Ensure timely processing of CM orders and shipments.
• Assist with CM site audits, including safety and environmental audits.
• Maintain CM records to comply with ISO and SOX requirements.
• Position requires up to 15% travel for audits, trials, physical inventory, and ISO training.

Job Description

Assist Contract Manufacturing (CM) Manager in Negotiating Contract Manufacturing rates, including preparation of bid packets.

Work with product management & Supply Chain Department (SCD) team to ensure adequate contract manufacturing capacity in accordance with strategic plan.

Works with SCD and Quality Assurance to qualify new contract manufacturers.

Manage the storage of raw materials and finished goods at contract manufacturing sites by setting stocking levels and doing periodic cycle counts, and select carriers for transport.

Provide leadership for resolution of raw material, shipping or other operational problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.

Monitor performance by tracking costs and other metrics on weekly, monthly and YTD basis; investigate and respond to CPR’s; identify and implement corrective actions and process improvements.

Make required transactions in JDE, including Item Setups, bill of material (BOM) and routings.

Compile, store, and retrieve production data; produce reports for position customers as needed.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with position customers, and meet customer needs.

Assist CM Manager to implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements.

Investigate all billing and invoice discrepancies from the contract manufacturers and /or related suppliers.

Ensure timely processing of CM orders & shipments.

Assist with contract manufacturing site audits, as needed, based on the audit schedule.

This includes auditing safety and environmental practices.

Assist CM Manager in maintain contract manufacturing records as to comply with ISO and SOX requirements.

Position requires up to 15% traveling to conduct Quality & EHS audits, support trials, on site physical inventory, ISO Training.

Work Environment / Ehs Responsibilities

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk; use hands to finger or handle; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.

Must be able to travel by automobile and air to visit contract manufacturing sites. Must be able to don and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by work environment and/or job task (example but not limited to: full/half respirator, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and steel toes boots). Must be able to traverse oily, slippery or uneven terrains.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is generally working in an office environment. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock, slippery surfaces, and occasionally exposed to loud noise levels.
