Job Title: Contract Litigation Attorney

Our client, a prestigious government agency, is seeking contract attorneys who are barred and in good standing in any state with at least 1 year of litigation experience to work remotely on a long-term assignment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for and/or try complex cases involving significant precedents, novel and complicated legal determinations, or having substantial legal, policy, or financial implications.
• Determine the advisability of presenting witnesses, admissibility of evidence, and legal strategies.
• Provide training on federal and state education laws and regulations to field staff and the Committee on Special Education (CSE) clinical staff.
• Consult with specialists, technical experts, other attorneys, and litigants' counsel.
• Negotiate and settle special education claims.
• Prepare and argue cases and appeals in administrative tribunals.
• Review, revise, and approve agreements and stipulations.
• Draft memoranda and analyze case strengths and settlement appropriateness.
• Instruct offices on obligations under hearing orders and review administrative decisions.
• Research case law, gather evidence, and assist in case research.
• Appear at pre-hearing conferences and review administrative decisions.
• Collaborate with advocacy groups, parents, and private attorneys for settlements.
• Review and negotiate attorneys' fees claims.
• Prepare reports, data, and case recommendations.

Qualifications

• Barred in any state, in good standing.
• Litigation and settlement experience.
• Strong legal research skills.

Pay Rates

Experience levels and rates vary:

• 1-7 years: Remote $39/hr, NYC $44/hr
• 7+ years: Remote $41/hr, NYC $47/hr
