Job summary

DQS Inc is seeking a senior quality auditor to lead IATF-based audits, assess conformance to multiple standards, and manage audit teams. The role requires extensive experience in automotive quality systems and strong communication with clients and staff.

The successful candidate will plan, execute, and report audit findings, while coaching junior auditors and ensuring adherence to accreditation requirements. Remote/hybrid work options may be available due to virtual audit activities.

Qualifications

• IATF certification with lead auditor capability and passing exam.
• Minimum 4 years of practical QA experience, including automotive manufacturing.
• 5+ years of auditing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and automotive core tools (FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops and leads audits per IATF and program requirements.
• Plans and manages audit scope and agendas in collaboration with customers.
• Presents audit results to clients and audit teams, verbally and in writing.
• Maintains audit documentation and reports; supports improvement actions.
• Trains and evaluates candidate auditors and team members.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation requirements and DQS Inc. standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develops and submits on time scope of certification and audit agendas through consultation with customers.
• Confirms audit days are adequate based on headcount and complexity.
• Presents audit plans to customers and the audit team.
• Manages the audit.
• Determines the customer’s degree of readiness for assessment to appropriate standards.
• Assists customers in understanding the standard and program requirements.
• Directs the conduct of the audit and the activities of audit team members.
• Assesses the conformance of the management system to multiple standards through performing system and process audits, including review of customer documentation and records, interview of customer management and staff, and observation of customer processes.
• Documents audit results including audit trails, strengths and opportunities and nonconformities.
• Prepares audit reports and supporting documentation for submission on time.
• Reaches team consensus on the audit results having final responsibility for the team conclusions.
• Presents results of audit to client verbally and in writing.
• Assists in training, qualification and ongoing evaluation of candidate auditors and auditors.
• Assists in analyzing customer responses to nonconformities for acceptance in a timely manner.
• Performs audits in accordance with DQS Inc. program and accreditation requirements.
• Supports DQS Inc. key performance indicators and objectives.
• Performs other duties as directed.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED

• International Automotive Task Force (IATF) certification (Green Status in ADP) Exemplar Global or equivalent approved 40‑hour QMS Lead Auditor training course with exam.
• Four (4) years of full‑time appropriate practical experience, including two (2) years dedicated to quality assurance and/or quality management activities in an automotive manufacturing organization.
• Experience in industries with similar scopes of applicability (e.g., Aerospace, Telecommunications, Rail, Industrial Off‑Road Equipment, etc.), chemical, electrical, or metallic commodities may be considered.
• Five or more years of auditing experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of principles and methods for standard assessments.
• Experience with management systems, 2nd and 3rd party certifications, ISO‑9001 processes, and/or previous certification auditing/assessment skills is highly desired.
• Knowledge in Automotive Core Tools (at minimum FMEA, MSA, and SPC).
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications.
• Critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to concerns.
• Excellent oral and written communication and follow‑through skills.
• Accountability.
• Time‑management.
• Ability to work independently in a virtual, home‑based environment.
