Job summary

ProCare Therapy is seeking a contract Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for an elementary setting. You will collaborate with students, staff, and families to meet each child’s communication needs throughout the school day.

Ideal candidates have a Virginia teaching license with a Special Education endorsement for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (PreK-12), experience with elementary students, and strong communication and collaboration skills to tailor instruction and advocate for accessible learning.

Qualifications

• Valid Virginia Teaching License
• Special Education endorsement for Deaf and Hard of Hearing PreK-12 required
• Experience with elementary age students preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to tailor instructional strategies for varying learning needs
• Passion for supporting the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community

Responsibilities

• Providing direct instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students within the elementary caseload
• Consulting with general education teachers to ensure curriculum accessibility
• Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Utilizing various communication modalities and assistive technologies
• Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction as needed
• Serving as a resource and advocate for students and their families
• Maintaining clear documentation in accordance with regulatory guidelines
