Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector for on-site contract work across multiple states. You will inspect installations, verify components, and witness tests to ensure compliance with NEC and IEC standards.

This flexible, non-full-time opportunity uses a 1099 agreement; travel expenses may be reimbursed when outside the home location with client approval. Hourly rate ranges from $40 to $47 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• AEI, IAEI, CEI and/or CompEx qualifications preferred.
• NFPA 70 knowledge would be an asset.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
• Min. 3-4 years Shop / vendor surveillance experience.
• Understanding of E&I processes, codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspects electrical/instrumentation installations for NEC/IEC codes and safety standards.
• Verifies installation of switchgear, panels, cables and sensors.
• Witnesses and verifies continuity, insulation resistance, and functional tests.
• Ensures adherence to project specs and NEC/IEC standards.
• Creates detailed inspection reports and NCRs.
• Investigates non-conformities and assists in corrective actions; communicates with suppliers and engineers.
