Job summary

A technology service provider is looking for an experienced Data Center Technician to provide on-site support in Kansas City. This contract-based position involves executing hardware installations, structured cabling, and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Candidates should have at least 2 years of data center or IT infrastructure experience and strong cabling skills. Preferred qualifications include relevant certifications and experience with server hardware. Compensation ranges from $25 to $35 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience.
• Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro).
• Familiarity with major colocation providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations.
• Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber optic).
• Conduct server racking, stacking, and labeling.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues.

Skills

Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single‑mode/multi‑mode fiber)

Professional communication skills in English

Ability to lift 50+ lbs

Education

Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar)

Network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+)

Tools

Standard tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment
