Job summary

Electrify America in Reston, VA is seeking a Contract Software Engineer II – Backend who is a solid Java developer and can own their work, deliver features, and grow quickly.

You will deliver backend features in Java with Spring Boot, write tests, review code, and collaborate with senior engineers in an Agile environment, with occasional domestic travel.

Required: 5+ years backend experience, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Postgres or MongoDB, and a Bachelor's degree in CS or engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java; Spring Boot experience preferred.
• Experience with REST API development.
• Exposure to databases: Postgres and/or MongoDB.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently deliver backend features and bug fixes in Java, meeting sprint commitments.
• Write clean, production-quality code and maintain test coverage.
• Collaborate with teammates and other teams to resolve blockers.
• Participate in Agile rituals and code reviews.
• Contribute to test suites with unit and integration tests.
