Contract Associate/Juris Doctorate - Remote

Overview: Sentara Health is currently hiring a Contract Associate/Juris Doctorate!

Status: Full-Time, permanent position (40 hours)

Standard working hours: 8am to 5pm EST, M-F

Job Responsibilities:

• Partner with other business areas within the health system to identify opportunities to grow systems and integration in siloed or fragmented processes.
• Draft and negotiate purchase agreements for supplies, services, and medical equipment.
• Collaborate with Legal to develop, update, and enforce purchase order terms and conditions.
• Maintain knowledge of current laws and regulations in contracts and healthcare; connect with peers through trade groups like AHLA.
• Assist in developing and implementing contractual policies and procedures.
• Work with system leaders and clinical teams to clarify business requirements, advise on risks, and represent business interests during vendor negotiations.
• Negotiate business terms to meet user needs and organizational goals; collaborate with Legal on legal terms.
• Communicate contract provisions and business risks to leadership.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to support strategic goals.
• Identify and pursue new contracts with vendors.
• Track financial performance, utilization, and compliance of agreements.
• Draft amendments, extensions, and routine contracts using templates.
• Evaluate lease and group purchasing agreements for compliance.
• Maintain complete and organized contract files and records.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate with litigation, ADR, or transactional negotiation experience (REQUIRED)
• Master's in Business Administration, Healthcare, or Supply Chain Management (preferred)
• Minimum 3 years legal experience in corporate and healthcare law (REQUIRED)
• Experience in supply chain contract negotiation (preferred)
• Experience in healthcare operations (preferred)
