Job description

Muon Space seeks a detail-oriented, proactive Contract Administrator to join our growing Legal and Contracts team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day lifecycle of both commercial and government (DoD, IC, and Civil) contracts. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including Growth (Business Development), Mission Engineering (Program Management), and Supply Chain—you will apply established playbooks and procedures to ensure contractual compliance, track deliverables, and maintain audit-ready records.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an early-to-mid-career contracts professional looking to build expertise in the rapidly evolving commercial space and defense sector under direct mentorship.

This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office three days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Contract Review & Drafting: Produce and conduct initial reviews of standard NDAs, Teaming Agreements, Subcontracts, Consulting Agreements, Vendor Agreements, and Purchase Order terms against established company playbooks and templates. Ensure basic flow-down of prime contract requirements under guidance.
  • Risk Identification & Escalation: Spot deviations from playbook positions and unfavorable clauses; prepare structured initial review summaries and flag business/legal risks for senior contracts counsel.
  • Proposal & Capture Support: Partner with Growth/capture team during the pre-award lifecycle; assist with RFP compliance checklists, representations and certifications, and proposal submission administrative packages.
  • Contract Administration & Deliverable Tracking: Monitor post-award execution, track contractual deliverables and CDRLs in project management systems (e.g., Asana), coordinate standard contract modifications, and serve as a day-to-day administrative point of contact for customer counterparts.
  • Government Systems Administration: Maintain and update Muon's active profiles, representations, and certifications across government portals including SAM.gov, PIEE, WAWF, and supplier databases.
  • Contract Operations & Records: Maintain an audit-ready digital filing system, ensure version control, and accurately log contract metadata and key deadlines across active and legacy files.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Growth, Mission Engineering, and Supply Chain on day-to-day contracting status, timelines, and deliverable submissions.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in contracts administration, subcontracts, or legal operations (including relevant internships), ideally with exposure to a government defense contractor, aerospace company, or tech startup in relevant industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree.
  • Government Procurement Knowledge: Basic working knowledge of FAR/DFARS concepts and familiarity navigating federal systems such as SAM.gov, PIEE, and WAWF.
  • Organization & Throughput: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage concurrent routine tasks and track shifting deadlines without dropping details.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear written and verbal communication skills ; ability to build productive working relationships across internal teams and external customer counterparts.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to resolve issues using analysis and investigation, applying company policies and guidance appropriately.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Active TS security clearance or eligibility to acquire one.
  • Exposure to space systems, satellite operations, or aerospace contracting.
  • Experience working with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools.
  • Professional certification coursework (e.g., NCMA CFCM or CPCM).

The salary range for this role is $66,000 - $119 ,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
