Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS.

Overview

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Contract Administrator to support the Precision Targeting & Protection (PT\&P) Operating Unit based in Apopka, Florida. This hybrid role requires in-office presence two days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Proposal Preparation and Negotiation (Pre-Contract)
    • Review and analyze customer Requests for Proposal/Quotes (RFPs/RFQs) to understand Statements of Work (SOW) and contract requirements and advise the program team on contractual terms, conditions, and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Examine estimates of materials, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Ensure company proposals are fully responsive, prepare proposal submittal documents, and coordinate internal review and approval.
    • Develop negotiation strategy with internal stakeholders, negotiate terms, conditions, cost/price, and fee.
    • Manage proposal fact‑finding and negotiations between customer and program team.
  • Contract Administration and Closeout
    • Oversee contract performance, including schedules and deliverables, and take action to ensure satisfactory program performance.
    • Work with business management to monitor contract funding and payments.
    • Maintain and update contract and official program files and records.
    • Draft and submit correspondence to customers.
    • Research contract issues and prepare analysis or recommendations.
    • Collaborate with technical staff to address customer questions and requests.
  • Overall
    • Administer, negotiate, terminate, and close‑out standard and non‑standard contracts.
    • Advise the program team of contractual rights and obligations, including interpretation of terms and conditions.
    • Apply knowledge of FAR/DFARS and US Export Regulations daily.
    • Interface effectively with internal stakeholders and customer counterparts via email, telephone, or in person.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of professional experience in contracts, subcontracts, business management, finance, accounting, or related fields – or a Master’s degree with 1+ year of experience. Five years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time‑management abilities.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Experience using SAP.
  • Recent experience as a Contracts Administrator in the defense industry.
  • Experience reading and interpreting legal and contractual requirements.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range: $62,200 – $93,400.
  • Potential for discretionary annual bonus and long‑term incentive for higher‑level positions.
