Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time Continuous Visual Monitoring Technician in Illinois. The schedule is three 8-hour shifts per week, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, with every other weekend and rotating holidays.

You will provide continuous safety observation via video monitoring, deliver basic comfort and de-escalation support to at-risk patients, and coordinate with staff to summon help when needed at Delnor Hospital. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides continuous safety observation via continuous video monitoring of patients identified to be at risk for causing injury to themselves or to others. This includes offering basic comfort and using de-escalation techniques within the scope of this role.
• Monitors multiple patients via continuous video monitoring in a room separate from patients, and summons appropriate staff via communication device when needed.

Job Description

The schedule for this position is three 8-hour shifts per week 3p - 11:30p with every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays required.

The Continuous Visual Monitoring Technicianreflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

• Provides continuous safety observationvia continuous video monitoringof patients identified to be at risk for causing injury to themselves or to others. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: offering basic comfort measures to help the patient relax and addressing the emotional needs of specific patients served, including the use of encouragement, distraction, coping strategies, cognitive stimulation activities, and de-escalation techniques within the scope of this role as appropriate.


• Monitors multiple patients via continuous video monitoring in a room seperate from patients, at Delnor Hospital. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing effective verbal redirection of designated remote continuous observation patients from engaging in risk behaviors and summoning appropriate staff via communication device/STAT Alert Alarm when appropriate.
