Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist to drive Lean initiatives across the organization. You will lead cross-functional teams, develop and implement transformational plans, and coach teams to sustain improvements using Lean principles.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, change management, and strong interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders at all levels. A strong background in manufacturing and Lean tools will be essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Lean Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proven expertise in Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Strong change management and coaching skills.
  • Data-driven problem solving and real-time reporting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and engage cross-functional teams in deploying Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Develop transformational plans and management approaches that align with OE objectives.
  • Drive change activities by diagnosing current state and coaching teams to implement improvement plans.
  • Design Lean-based solutions with stakeholders to promote value-added processes.
  • Provide training and coaching on Lean tools to promote knowledge transfer and adherence to standards.
  • Support local teams in implementing tactical improvement plans and performance scorecards.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Lead and engage cross-functional teams in deploying our company-wide initiative: Operational Excellence (OE).
  • Develop transformational plans and management approaches that align with OE objectives and strategies, supporting implementation across the organization.
  • Drive change activities by support current state diagnostics, engaging the team in designing and developing improvement plans, creating and delivering training materials, and coaching teams to ensure knowledge transfer and adherence to standards.
  • Conduct diagnostic and analytical activities to help teams assess current realities and develop solutions through knowledge sharing and skill-building.
  • Design solutions with key stakeholders, facilitating improvements using Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Support local teams in implementing tactical improvement plans and enhancing their understanding of continuous improvement.
  • Provide localized training and coaching on Lean tools and enablers to promote value-added processes.
  • Apply Lean concepts creatively and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills while teaching structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Influence decisions that impact change management and employee engagement with the OE system. A collaborative leadership style is essential to uphold the integrity of OE and support overall business performance.
How to thrive in this role?
  • Hold a degree or diploma in a related field such as Lean Manufacturing, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 5–10 years of manufacturing experience (an asset).
  • Demonstrate proven expertise in Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Have a strong track record in leading change and influencing others.
  • Demonstrate strength in data systems and a proactive approach to developing real-time reporting and performance scorecards.
  • Exhibit Bombardier’s core competencies: change management, interpersonal communication, teamwork, planning & organizing, problem solving, decision making, coaching, and conflict management.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and change management capabilities.
  • Are a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Apply creative solutions in team environments using Lean tools and concepts.
  • Work autonomously to develop solutions from concepts and strategies.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Build trust and momentum for change through interaction and results within client work center teams.
  • May support external consultants with tools, training, and coaching.
  • Can foster relationships and influence change across all levels—Leadership, Managers, Line Managers, Lead Hands, and employee teams.
