Job description

Wondercide was founded 15 years ago by Stephanie Boone when her dog Luna became ill from what her vet suspected was conventional flea and tick treatments and monthly pest control services. Stephanie knew there had to be a better way and set out on a mission to invent a plant powered alternative. Today, Wondercide offers a comprehensive line of plant-powered pest control solutions for your pets, yard, home, and family with +50,000 5-star reviews on Amazon.

Wondercide, based in Austin, TX, is a privately held, high-growth, and digitally native consumer packaged goods company that has an omni-channel presence and is expanding into specialty brick-and-mortar and beyond. The company is vertically integrated, with sales, marketing, creative content, customer service, innovation, procurement, mixing, production, fulfillment, and more all done in-house. This allows the team to control their own destiny from a multi-year roadmap down to quality of execution via operational excellence.

We are a close-knit, highly collaborative team of ‘doers’ who operate in an entrepreneurial and KPI driven environment. Grit, Action, Curiosity, Ownership, and Insight are the five operating values we embody in our day-to-day work.

At Wondercide, we’re driven by a Fierce Love® for families. We wake up every day inspired by our mission to protect families of every kind, everywhere, from pests with safe, effective pest control solutions. We work with Mother Nature to deliver plant-powered products that promote well-being. We do this so families can live long, happy, and healthy lives together. We believe in doing whatever it takes to protect those we love…and that when you know better, you should do better. Our promise to customers: they’ll never have to go it alone. We’re in this together, and we’ll be there to support each step of the way.

THE POSITION

The Quality & Continuous Improvement Lead will report to Wondercide’s Executive Director of Manufacturing Operations and play a critical role in continuing to fully establish a structured commitment to LEAN Methodology in all levels of the Operations Team. The role will be tasked with ensuring we achieve “buy-in” with team members who touch the process daily. This role will be responsible for leading improvement projects, maintaining a list of ongoing opportunities, serving as a Change Champion, facilitating Kaizen events, conducting LEAN training, and delivering measurable improvements. The successful candidate will have a strong command of LEAN SIX SIGMA, KAIZEN, and the TOYOTA PRODUCTION SYSTEM. Initially, this role will be focused on executing the existing Operational Excellence plan, then assisting in developing future initiatives as we continue on our journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Management
    1. Serve as the primary point of contact for projects targeting improvements in Production, Fulfillment, Supply Chain, & Mixing.
    2. Demonstrate exceptional project management skills, maintaining focus on key milestones and driving projects to completion on schedule
    3. Track quarterly & annual performance to a cost reduction target
    4. Maintain an ongoing list of projects for us to evaluate & prioritize, proactively targeting opportunities for improvement
  2. Facilitation
    1. LEAN “Basics” & RCA training for 100% of the Operations Team
    2. Facilitate KAIZEN events, often using a modified approach that covers multiple weeks rather than 2-3-day events
    3. Facilitate additional relevant training, as needed
  3. Achieve Results
    1. Support (support or lead?) the development of an annual continuous improvement cost reduction target, tracking performance and providing updates quarterly & annually
    2. Lead a “Campaign” approach to enroll the team in establishing waste identification as a daily habit
  4. Active & Supportive
    1. Serve as a subject matter expert for the Operations Team in completing Kaizen Charters, Waste Observations, Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys), and in completing business justification forms for all projects
    2. Be present on the floor and conduct independent observations, as well as analyze data that is available

The QA / CI Lead will be expected to adapt, take on new responsibilities, and implement new processes and systems as the company grows.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or Military experience is considered instead of the education requirement
  • At least 3 years of work-related experience with Lean or Continuous Improvement Programs
  • Verifiable certifications in LEAN, LEAN SIX SIGMA, TPS, KAIZEN Facilitation, or other relevant continuous improvement training.
  • Experience in leading the implementation and utilization of Lean practices and tools strongly preferred (Kaizen, PDCA, CL, 5S, APTs, etc.)
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Evidence of Change Leadership
  • Project management experience
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, etc.
  • Able to communicate effectively with every level of the organization, using a variety of methods (Direct / In-Person, email, Slack, presentations, etc.)
  • Direct experience in Tiered Management preferred
What’s in it for you:

Work with a passionate, entrepreneurial team that will support you and help you succeed.

  • Be a part of a powerful mission-forward culture
  • Work in a new, state-of-the-art facility
  • Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen
  • Bring your dog to work!
