Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation, a leader in safety and industrial solutions, seeks a manufacturing leader to drive daily operations, safety, and quality. You will oversee production, Lean initiatives, and cross-functional coordination to meet schedules and customer requirements.

The role requires 5+ years of leadership in manufacturing, a bachelor's degree in a related field, and strong knowledge of production planning, quality systems, and ERP. Excellent people development skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience leading Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, quality systems, and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience supervising teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily manufacturing operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
  • Monitor production performance, identify constraints, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage labor utilization, staffing levels, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to meet operational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Lead safety improvement initiatives and investigate incidents as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and customer requirements.
Production Management
  • Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Monitor production performance, identify constraints, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage labor utilization, staffing levels, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to meet operational goals.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and waste-reduction initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement projects including preparation of Capital Purchases.
  • Drive process standardization and best-practice sharing across operations.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and production employees.
  • Conduct performance reviews and establish development plans.
  • Foster employee engagement and continuous learning.
  • Lead change management efforts associated with operational improvements.

Required Qualifications

Physical Demands

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The work environment noise levels are moderate in the office area and louder in the production areas.
