Role Overview And Responsibilities

Introduction: As a Continuous Improvement Manager, you will advance operational excellence by working alongside employees and leaders to understand how work is performed, solve problems, and build sustainable improvements. This role requires a hands-on, collaborative leader who spends time where the work occurs, uses data and structured problem-solving to guide decisions, builds trust across teams, and helps the organization mature its continuous improvement practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Charter a vision.
  • Develop and guide the site’s continuous improvement roadmap in partnership with employees, functional leaders, and site leadership.
  • Spend meaningful time on the production floor observing processes, engaging employees, and identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Design, implement, and sustain improvement systems and processes, including building new processes from the ground up when needed.
  • Utilize value stream management to identify constraints, improve flow, and drive site-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish meaningful measures of success and connect improvement priorities to business and customer needs.
  • Drive change.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives using appropriate methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, process mapping, experimentation, and structured problem-solving.
  • Apply change management practices to help teams understand, adopt, and sustain new processes and ways of working.
  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving by gathering perspectives, testing assumptions, analyzing data, and helping teams develop solutions rather than prescribing answers.
  • Develop practical methods for collecting and analyzing data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Establish KPIs and operating cadences that make performance visible, support decision-making, and measure whether improvements are delivering sustained results.
  • Empower teams.
  • Build trusted relationships by listening, asking thoughtful questions, following through on commitments, and valuing the knowledge of people closest to the work.
  • Coach employees and leaders in continuous improvement, problem-solving, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary teams through complex problems, including situations where the solution is not known at the outset.
  • Build team capability and ownership so improvements are sustained, and teams become increasingly able to solve problems independently.
  • Lead the planning, facilitation, execution, and sustainment of Kaizen events, ensuring improvements are effectively implemented, measured, and sustained while developing and mentoring employees to become effective Kaizen facilitators.
