What you will do
Working under the framework of Johnson Controls' Continuous Improvement system, you will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize and establish a plan to reach the future state, monitor progress, and share or acquire best-in-class ideas and systems.
Responsibilities include:
Identify gaps in Best Business Practice Metrics (BBPs), and work with all levels of the plant to establish and execute strategies for improvement.
Assess the current state of the plant's operations; develop a future state vision; and drive and monitor the implementation plan.
Coach the CI team, including Plant Staff, Lean Implementers, Black Belts, and Green Belts, to apply appropriate DMAIC tools for improvement.
Establish a continuous improvement Profit Plan and forecast goals; drive the team to achieve them.
Ensure Process Owner involvement in SOW development and team leadership.
Develop a 'pull' system to replace BBs and LIs with qualified 'management-potential' personnel.
Use standard tracking and reporting systems to prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and ensure timely completion and achievement of quality and savings goals.
Collaborate with leadership to develop a plant CI Roadmap, driving breakthrough or best-in-class performance through 1. Just Do It improvements, 2. Six Sigma projects, and 3. Lean implementation projects.
Assist Process Owners in identifying barriers to project success and drive necessary changes.
Document improvement process learning and share best practices with other Black Belts.
Identify and propose new project opportunities to the Champion.
What we look for
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, preferably in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of experience. In the absence of a four-year degree, at least 8 years of relevant experience is required.
Proven high-level performance in previous roles.
Experience working in large, complex organizations.
Initiative and motivation to drive change and exceed expectations.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage both vertically and horizontally; this role supervises 4 Lean Implementers.
Basic statistical knowledge and the ability to apply statistics to product and process improvements.
Proficiency with MS Office, especially spreadsheets.
Green Belt or higher Six Sigma certification.
