Job summary

Trex Company is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer II in Winchester, VA, to drive manufacturing performance improvements. You will lead CI events, apply Six Sigma methodologies, and collaborate with multiple departments to enhance processes and cut costs.

Qualified candidates will have a BS in science/engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing with 3+ years in project management, and 3+ years CI experience; data analysis experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in a manufacturing organization with three years of project management.
  • Three or more years of Continuous Improvement Methodology experience.
  • Experience as a data analyst or data scientist in engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety and foster a people-first culture.
  • Plan, organize, lead, and facilitate CI events (Kaizen, Loss Elimination, Value Stream Mapping, Value Engineering).
  • Lead projects using Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes and reduce costs.
  • Provide CI support to hourly, professional, and managerial staff across departments.
  • Design, develop, and implement improved workflows and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Production, and Training to update standards.
  • Train employees in Manufacturing Excellence Lean principles and structured problem solving.
  • Identify opportunities and drive CI projects to meet annual goals.
  • Maintain the master CI project list and manage cost-savings cadence.

We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer II to help us drive performance to the next level by identifying and implementing improvement activities. As a Trex Continuous Improvement Engineer II, you will be looked to as an innovator in the manufacturing process and expected to help us operate more efficiently by executing projects that will create more efficient processes and result in cost savings. This role is a key member of our Continuous Improvement team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and foster our “people first” culture
  • Plan, organize, lead, and facilitate Continuous Improvement events (Kaizen, Loss Elimination, Value Stream Mapping, Value Engineering, etc.) and process improvement activities.
  • Work individually and lead teams to complete projects following systemic loss elimination processes/tools and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Provide continuous improvement support to hourly employees, professionals, and managers in multiple departments for respective ownership area(s).
  • Design, develop, and implement improved workflows.
  • Partner with Process Engineering, Production, and Training departments to create and update work instructions, visual aids, and standards.
  • Train employees in, Manufacturing Excellence Lean principles (5S, 8 Types of Wastes, Poka-Yoke, visual controls, time studies, effort balance, etc.) and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Identify opportunities and complete projects in line with annual CI goals.
  • Facilitate cost savings cadence and ensure master CI project list is updated.

Experience

We are looking for leaders with a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field. Five years of experience in a manufacturing organization, along with three years of project management experience, is required. You will need three or more years of Continuous Improvement Methodology experience to be successful in this role. We want to hear from you if you have previous experience as a data analyst or a data scientist in engineering.

SALARY

Base Salary Range: $78,000 - $112,000 annually.

The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.

At Trex, individual base salaries are determined based on various factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. We are committed to maintaining pay equity and consider the internal equity of our existing team members when finalizing compensation offers.
