Job summary

Grillo’s Midwest is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to lead capital projects and drive the company’s strategic plan across the plant. You will initiate, develop, and implement improvements in process, packaging, and systems technology while supporting day-to-day continuous improvement initiatives.

This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple projects with safety, quality, and yield in focus.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 3-5 Years Minimum Experience
  • Understanding statistics, data analysis techniques, simulation, and other industrial engineering principles is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD for presentations, layouts, and working documents.

  • Provide engineering support and serve as a technical resource in training and policies affecting safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Investigate and develop new and creative solutions to production and process needs.
  • Work towards a zero-loss culture by supporting day-to-day initiatives to target zero safety and quality incidents, zero yield loss, and reduction in unplanned downtime.
  • Collaborate with plant operations and engineering to identify and develop the CAPEX plan for the year that supports Grillo’s strategic plan and plant efficiency.
  • Supervise contractors, vendors, and outside engineering firms; provide a safe and healthy work environment during project installations.

SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Plant Director, the Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a key leadership role in driving the success of Grillo’s strategic plan by initiating, developing, and implementing capital projects that improve the facilities’ operation and support the strategic direction of the company. This role will also work on non-capital, continuous improvement projects that focuses on day-to-day zero loss culture and to provide leading-edge technical expertise and engineering services in process, packaging, and system technology.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide engineering support and serve as a technical resource in the area of training and advice, codes, and policies, which affect safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Investigate and develop new and creative solutions to our production and process needs.
  • Work towards a zero-loss culture by supporting day-to-day initiatives to target zero safety and quality incidents, zero yield loss, and reduction in unplanned downtime.
  • A collaborative team effort with plant operations and engineering to identify and develop the CAPEX plan for the year that supports Grillo’s strategic plan, the plants' efficiency improvements, and maintaining operations.
  • Support capital projects through implementation.
  • Provide regularly scheduled capital project updates to both plant management and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise contractors, vendors, and outside engineering firms. Provide a safe and healthy work environment during all project installations to protect personnel, food, and plant.
  • Maintains positive vendor relationships and ensures vendor adherence to Grillo’s corporate values.
  • Collaborate with all departments to help problem solve and support business growth.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of the customer/client relationship involved in project engineering.
  • Shows curiosity and out-of-the-box thinking in the problem-solving process.
  • Facilitates open communication and a team approach in resolving issues with equipment, process, or people.
  • The ability to manage numerous projects (financial, schedule, and implementation) simultaneously.
  • The agility to manage change as priorities shift and/or as customer needs require.
  • Demonstrated technical capability, ability to apply engineering principles, and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Understanding statistics, data analysis techniques, simulation, and other industrial engineering principles is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of common software packages including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD for the preparation of presentations, layouts, and working documents.
  • Strong computer, analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are highly preferred
  • 3-5 Years Minimum Experience
  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 - 25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance from co-workers and/or mechanic devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee will be handling items that may be very hot. The noise level is usually moderate. Must be available to work overtime, nights, weekends, and Holidays as needed.
