MCC’s Continuing Education Division seeks Games Instructors to deliver engaging, non-credit courses on games, play, and recreation across the MCC Metro area, including Fremont and Blair. Courses will be offered year-round, evenings and weekends, with random teaching opportunities as needed.

Instructors prepare materials, explain rules, and adapt lessons for participants with different levels of experience, prioritizing participation and social learning in a welcoming environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Games Instructor

MCC’s Continuing Education Division is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and engaging Games Instructors to provide fun and enriching learning opportunities for members of our community. This position will offer various teaching opportunities throughout the year and will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, accessible, and interactive non-credit courses centered around games, play, and recreation.

Games Instructors may teach courses focused on areas such as board games, card games, strategy games, tabletop games, puzzles, trivia, or other recreational gaming activities. Instructors will create a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants can learn new games, develop strategic and critical-thinking skills, build social connections, and enjoy recreational activities in a positive and supportive setting.

The instructor will be responsible for preparing course materials, explaining game rules and strategies, facilitating activities, and adapting instruction to accommodate participants with varying levels of experience. Courses should emphasize participation, learning, social interaction, and personal enrichment. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching, facilitating, or leading games, recreational activities, workshops, or community programs.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with one or more types of games, such as board games, card games, strategy games, tabletop games, puzzles, trivia, or role-playing games.
  • Ability to clearly explain game rules, strategies, and concepts to participants with varying levels of experience.
  • Experience creating engaging, interactive, and inclusive learning experiences for diverse audiences.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage group activities, encourage participation, and create a positive and welcoming environment.
  • Experience working with adult learners, families, youth, or community groups is preferred.
  • Demonstrated creativity and enthusiasm for games, recreation, and social learning.
  • Ability to develop course materials, activities, and lesson plans appropriate to the subject matter.

This position will have random teaching opportunities throughout the year.
MCC holds classes at multiple locations throughout the Metro area including Fremont and Blair.
Most classes are held weeknights and weekends.
