Dixie Technical College in St. George, Utah, seeks a Part-time Content Writer/Journalist to tell stories of students, alumni, employees, programs, and employer partners through articles, press releases, social media, website content, and video.

On-campus role reporting to the Marketing Director and collaborating with the marketing team. You will interview people, write engaging content, and help showcase what Dixie Tech makes possible for future students and the community.

• Cover College events and activities.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications team to develop engaging content.
• Edit and proofread content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
• Comply with Dixie Tech policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

As our Content Writer/Journalist, you will find and tell the stories of our students, alumni, employees, programs, and employer partners through articles, press releases, social media, website content, and video. If you love writing, interviewing people, and sharing stories that matter, we'd love to have you on the team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this part-time Content Writer/Journalist role on our Marketing & Communications team, you will create engaging writing and video content for social media, the Dixie Tech website, email, video, and local and regional media. You will report to the Marketing Director and work daily with the marketing team. You will also interact regularly with students, alumni, employees, employers, and community partners for interviews and events, and occasionally with local media. Every story you write as our content writer and journalist helps future students see what is possible at Dixie Tech. This position is on campus only in St. George, Utah.

PAY AND HOURS:

• Pay: $24 per hour
• Part-time, up to 28 hours per week
• No benefits are provided beyond the hourly pay

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Writing and Storytelling

• Find and develop stories from across Dixie Technical College
• Interview students, alumni, employees, employers, and community partners
• Write articles, news stories, and press releases for distribution to local and regional media
• Write social media posts, website content, emails, and video scripts

Video and Events

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Writing and Storytelling

• Excellent writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills
• Ability to write professional news articles and press releases for media distribution
• Creative, curious, and able to identify good stories
• Understanding of social media and digital content

Communication and Organization

• Comfortable speaking and interviewing people on camera
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while covering campus events and interviews
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
