Essential Functions

An ELA (English Language Arts) teacher's primary role is toeducate students in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.They develop and deliver lessons that engage students in meaningful learning experiences, fostering an appreciation for literature and effective communication.ELA teachers also assess student progress, collaborate with colleagues, and create a supportive learning environment

Responsibilities

• Creating and implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards that cover grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and various literary genres.
• Teaching students how to analyze texts, improve writing skills (essays, narratives, research projects), and express themselves effectively.
• Helping students develop critical thinking, analytical abilities, and a deeper understanding of literature and language.
• Evaluating student work through assignments, quizzes, and essays to assess progress and provide feedback.
• Creating a positive and engaging learning environment encourages participation, collaboration, and academic growth.
• Providing extra help to students who need it, and adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Keeping parents and guardians informed about student progress and participating in school activities.
• Working with other teachers and staff to support student learning and development.
• Participating in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices and educational trends

Compensation

Competitive salary scale for certified teachers. Starting salary placement begins at $59,168 and increases based on relevant professional experience, education, and certifications, with experienced teachers starting at up to $86,253.
