Job description

The primary role of the Engineering function within the Product Development team is to create specifications and designs for new products or improvements and enhancements to existing products. The engineer works closely with customers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs. Features are aligned to a timetable and areas of responsibility. Developers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements. Software Engineers who design, write and test code for the product belong to either Software Engineering Applications or Systems. Product developers who specialize in hardware systems belong to Hardware Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • The primary objective of UX Design specialization within Engineering (PD) Job Family is to design solutions that are informed by user & business needs, aspiring to creating the best experience/product.
  • By conducting research, user behaviors, needs and preferences are investigated to drive solutions that are aligned with user goals.
  • As well as user needs, the UX design teams assess business needs, technology & design trends to help inform the best product design solution.
  • The process followed is cyclical, design-test-iterate, to ensure the designed solutions are always meeting needs & achieving a high standard of design & innovation. UX design teams collaborate with other product development design/engineering teams across the business to deliver solutions to market, and also closely collaborate with product management teams to ensure the business strategic goals & user goals are met.
  • Performs work in a specialized area of expertise that requires knowledge of fundamental themes, principles and concepts. Typically requires a university degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Responsibilities might include:
    • Perform routine professional-based activities (early in career)
    • Contribute to and manage projects (mid-career)
    • Provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise (specialist and expert)
    • Leverage professional expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results (principal)
  • Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Occasionally leads the work of project teams and might formally train junior staff.

Employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible for benefits. This position qualifies for a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental and life insurance, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance, sleep care management, Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), commuter benefits, 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and tuition assistance. Employees accrue fifteen days Paid Time Off (PTO) in the first year of employment, receive eleven paid holidays plus three floating days and are eligible for fourteen weeks of primary caregiver or two weeks of secondary caregiver leave when welcoming new family members.

Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills. At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $111,000 – $140,000.
