Job description

About Precision Social

Precision Social is a social media and content production agency. We started in 2019 as a product photography company and grew into a full-service partner that handles strategy, production, and social management for brands across construction, manufacturing, consumer, and professional services.

We work in pods: a Pod Lead who owns the client relationship and strategy, a Social Media Manager, and a Content Producer who shoots and edits. When we're on site at a client's facility, our job is to make them look excellent — and to be the crew that clearly has its act together.

The Role

You'll be the extra set of hands on shoots. That means loading in, setting up lights and audio, keeping gear organized and safe, and then getting behind a camera yourself — second-shooting stills, grabbing B-roll, and capturing behind-the-scenes content we use for our own brand.

This is a real production job, not a shadowing program. You will be on set, on the clock, contributing to work that ships to clients. You'll learn how a professional shoot actually runs: how call times get built, how a producer manages a client on set, how footage gets offloaded and organized so nothing is ever lost, and how raw material becomes a deliverable.

What You'll Do

On Set

  • Assist the Content Producer with load-in, setup, and strike: lighting, audio, tripods, stands, sandbags, cabling, and grip

  • Second-shoot stills and video under the Content Producer's direction

  • Capture behind-the-scenes photo and video content for Precision Social's own marketing

  • Operate handheld and gimbal-supported camera setups for B-roll as your skills develop

  • Monitor audio, hold reflectors, wrangle talent flow, and generally anticipate the next thing the Producer needs

  • Keep the set clean, organized, and safe, and keep Company gear secure at all times

Data and Gear

  • Offload and back up media according to our file naming and backup standards

  • Charge, label, prep, and inventory batteries, cards, and gear before and after every shoot

  • Flag any damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment immediately

Post-Production Support

  • Cull and organize photo and video assets

  • Assist with basic edits, vertical cutdowns, and social-first reformatting

  • Support light retouching and color work as skills allow

Professional Standards

  • Arrive at call time, in the correct attire, ready to work

  • Represent Precision Social professionally in front of client staff, vendors, and talent

  • Track your working time accurately in Asana

  • Follow all Company policies on confidentiality, client conduct, and on-location behavior

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in film, video production, photography, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field — or a recent graduate of one

  • At least 18 years of age

  • A portfolio or reel demonstrating photography and/or videography work (coursework, freelance, and personal projects all count)

  • Working knowledge of a mirrorless or DSLR camera: exposure, focus, framing, and basic lighting

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premiere Pro and Lightroom

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to client locations across the region

  • Availability for scheduled shoot days, including occasional early call times

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment cases up to 40 pounds, stand and move for extended periods, and work outdoors in variable weather and in active industrial or job-site environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience assisting on a professional or student production set

  • Audio fundamentals: lavs, shotgun mics, levels

  • Gimbal, drone (Part 107 a plus), or Ronin experience

  • Photoshop, After Effects, or DaVinci Resolve

  • A social-native eye for what performs on Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn

What Matters More Than Your Reel

We can teach camera settings. We can't teach the following, and they're what separate the interns we hire full-time from the ones we don't:

  • You show up early. Call time is when we're already working, not when you park.

  • You anticipate. You notice the Producer reaching for a sandbag before they ask.

  • You take direction and feedback without defense. One of our values is Let Picasso Paint — genius recognizes genius, and ego takes a back seat to the work.

  • You communicate. If something breaks, you're running late, or you don't understand the assignment, you say so immediately.

  • You treat a client's workplace with respect. How we carry ourselves on their floor is how they judge our work.

What You'll Get Out of It

  • Paid, hands-on experience on real client productions from day one

  • Direct mentorship from a working Content Producer and Pod Lead

  • Exposure to the full pipeline: pre-production planning, shoot execution, post, and how content performs once it's live

  • A written performance evaluation at the end of the term, and support for academic credit requirements if your program offers them

  • A genuine pipeline to a full-time Content Producer role. We hire from this bench.

Portfolio and Credit

The work you produce for Precision Social is created on behalf of the Company and its clients and is owned by the Company. We know a portfolio matters to you and to your program. At the end of a successful internship, we will work with you to identify specific pieces you may include in your personal portfolio, with written approval and any client-required restrictions specified in writing. You may not publish or post Company or client work before receiving that written approval.

Attire and On-Location Standards

Shoot days have a dress code, and we provide the branded apparel. In short: a Precision Social branded top, clean darker-wash jeans or chinos, and closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles. Some client sites require steel-toed boots or additional PPE, which the Company provides. No shorts, no t-shirts, no open-toe footwear, no hats other than approved branded caps at outdoor shoots. Full standards are provided at onboarding.
