The Content Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role within NSTA’s Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) team, serving as the operational cornerstone for implementing our strategic marketing initiatives. Working closely with the Director of Marketing, this individual will manage the content pipeline—developing and distributing high-quality, brand-aligned content across multiple platforms to engage key audiences, support organization goals, and strengthen NSTA’s visibility and voice in the science education space. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a passion for writing, exceptional editing and project management skills, strong collaboration abilities, and a keen eye for data-informed content strategies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage daily digital content operations, ensuring smooth execution while adapting quickly to shifting priorities an organizational needs.
- Develop, proofread, fact-check, and edit compelling digital marketing content for the website, email campaigns, and social media—ensuring consistency in messaging, adherence to deadlines, and alignment with established timelines.
- Partner with the Director of Marketing and the Marketing Designer to test and optimize subject lines, calls to action, segmentation, and personalization strategies.
- Review and ensure the quality of marketing distribution lists, create and secure lists as needed.
- Design, build, and manage NSTA’s social media presence by leading the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy to drive engagement and brand awareness, while fostering a sense of community.
- Approve copy for social media posts to ensure brand consistency and accuracy and monitor channels to respond promptly to any comments and inquiries.
- Curate insights from internal subject-matter experts and leverage market data to develop content themes/topics and maintain fresh and relevant thought leadership.
- Oversee the NSTA Blog and is responsible for the development of the editorial plan as well as the creation and managementof the editorial calendar. Liaise with the publications and professional learning teams to identify topics and contributors.
- Coordinate with external solution providers to ensure project tasks are on schedule and work meets NSTA request and requirements.
- Collaborate with the creation of promotional and thematic videos for a variety of uses (e.g., for holidays, weeks of recognition, etc.)
- Support the conceptualization, development, and execution of the NSTA booth at NSTA National Conferences.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field.
- 6+ years of professional experience in marketing, digital marketing, content management and/or communications.
- Experience in curating, managing and implementing content marketing strategies, including email marketing, social media, and print production.
- Familiarity with email marketing systems and content management systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new platforms and technologies quickly.
- Familiarity with Search Engine Optimization tools and best practices.
- Experience with the following software programs strongly desired: HubSpot, Aptify, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with membership organizations, non-profits, and/or government agency experience strongly desired.
