Job description

POSITION: The Content Manager for Wisconsin Law Help (WLH) will play a central role in the creation, organization, and maintenance of plain language legal content for WisconsinLawHelp.org. Working closely with the Project Manager, legal experts, and a network of volunteers, the Content Manager will ensure all information is accurate, accessible, and aligned with the project’s mission of bridging the justice gap. The Content Manager will provide limited administrative and coordination support to the Project Manager, as needed.

ABOUT US: This position is part of the Wisconsin Law Help (WLH) project, a statewide initiative led by Judicare Legal Aid to bridge the justice gap in Wisconsin. WLH is a free, public-facing legal help website designed to make the civil legal system accessible for all, especially those who are unable to afford an attorney. WLH provides user-friendly legal information, guided interview to match users with legal help options, and a directory of free and low-cost legal help options.
Although focused on the WLH project, this position will be part of Judicare Legal Aid, a non-profit civil legal aid organization serving low-income people across Wisconsin’s northern 33 counties and Native Americans statewide. Judicare is funded by the Legal Services Corporation, Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation, and other public and private partners. Our mission is to provide legal help to those who otherwise cannot afford it, and our vision is equal justice for all.
We are an eligible employer for public interest-based loan forgiveness and are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. Applicants passionate about improving access to justice are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Management & Development:
1) Manage the full lifecycle of legal content, from initial drafting through publication.
2) Translate legal content into plain language articles.
3) Coordinate the subject matter review process, including routing content to legal experts and incorporating their feedback.
4) Oversee content scheduling to ensure timely drafting, review, updates, and publication of articles.
5) Maintain a content management system to track content: article topics, assigned volunteer, status of articles, and monitor deadlines.
6) Monitor existing content to reflect changes in law or procedures.
7) Incorporate Wisconsin’s standardized court forms into article pages on live site.
8) Collaborate with the Project Manager and stakeholder committee to identify and develop new content areas and digital tools for users.

Volunteer & Review Coordination:
1) Recruit, onboard, and engage volunteer legal experts to support content development and review.
2) Maintain clear communication with volunteers, setting expectations and managing timelines to ensure content remains on track.
3) Track volunteer assignments and timelines.

Content Strategy & Accessibility:
1) Contribute to content strategy by maintaining a content calendar aligned with audience needs.
2) Apply best practices for digital accessibility and plain language.
3) Monitor site analytics and user feedback to improve content effectiveness and usability.
4) Offer input on site structure, user experience, and search optimization to enhance access to information.

Support Project Manager:
1) Assist with stakeholder updates.
2) Compile metrics and updates for grant reporting.
3) Communicate with internal and external stakeholders related to content development and strategy, in coordination with Project Manager.
4) Help maintain shared documents outlining content priorities, progress, and workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, digital content management, legal studies, or a related field.
2) 1-2 years of experience in managing projects, preferably in a legal, non-profit, or public service setting.
3) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in plain language.
4) Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
5) Experience working with or managing volunteers, interns, or external partners is a plus.
6) Commitment to access to justice through legal help and information.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Starting wage depends upon experience, qualifications, and language proficiency, with a minimum starting salary of $55,000. This position includes full fringe benefits, which currently consists of premium free health, dental, life and disability insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with 3% salary match, and vacation and sick time. We are an eligible employer for purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
