Job summary

FOX13 Memphis is seeking a creative, digitally savvy Content Creator to tell stories across broadcast, digital, streaming, and social platforms. The role blends visual storytelling with newsroom coordination, producing engaging content from field and newsroom perspectives.

You will shoot and edit video, write digital stories in AP style, optimize for SEO, and monitor breaking news opportunities while collaborating with editors to prioritize coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for digital and broadcast platforms.
• Strong understanding of journalistic ethics, AP style, and digital publishing.
• Familiarity with CMS platforms, social media strategy, SEO, and audience engagement.
• Outstanding news judgment and the ability to identify compelling stories.
• Strong visual storytelling skills with an eye for composition, sequencing, and natural sound.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure, breaking news situations.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and carry approximately 40-50 pounds of equipment.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and severe weather coverage as needed.

• Shoot and edit high-quality video in the field, gathering video and sound for multiple platforms.
• Write and publish accurate, engaging digital stories using AP style and SEO best practices.
• Monitor scanners, social media, news wires, and community sources to identify breaking news and emerging story opportunities.
• Assist with newsroom coordination by communicating story updates, helping prioritize coverage, and supporting daily editorial planning.
• Work collaboratively with content team and newsroom managers to develop visually compelling and audience-focused stories.
• Produce platform-specific content optimized for television, web, mobile, and social media audiences.
• Maintain assigned cameras and editing equipment.
• Follow journalistic ethics, newsroom policies, and safety standards while representing FOX13 professionally in the community.
• Adapt quickly to breaking news and changing priorities while meeting multiple deadlines.
