  • Partner with the engineering team to develop tools for concept visualization and exploration.
  • Support Marketing and Sales efforts by delivering product demos.
  • Coordinate external authoring projects, ensuring high-quality output.

Overview

Learnvia is a Carnegie Mellon University initiative focused on transforming post-secondary math education through research-driven, AI-enhanced courseware. We collaborate with faculty, researchers, and institutional partners to develop innovative, evidence-based learning experiences. We are seeking a Content Author to lead the development of engaging, interactive Calculus content for mobile-first learning materials. This role is central to creating high-quality resources that help college-level students succeed in Calculus and related math courses. The ideal candidate combines deep Calculus expertise with a passion for education, clear communication, and experience designing interactive digital learning experiences.

As part of the team, you’ll collaborate with other authors, engineers, and educators to deliver modern alternatives to traditional textbooks and homework, transforming how students learn and apply Calculus concepts.

Responsibilities
  • Create concise, interactive Calculus content, including instructional text and auto-graded learning questions.
  • Design web-based homework assignments and engaging tools for topics such as functions, trigonometry, and analytic geometry.
  • Refine and maintain existing Calculus content to ensure high quality and alignment with pedagogical standards.
  • Partner with the engineering team to develop tools for concept visualization, exploration, and practice.
  • Support Marketing and Sales efforts by delivering product demos, addressing instructor feedback, and assisting with special projects.
  • Coordinate external authoring projects, including reviewing proposals, training contributors, and ensuring high-quality output.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • Proficient in LaTeX for mathematical writing and formatting.
  • Experience in educational content development or instructional design.
  • Familiarity with programming tools like Python, MATLAB, or Desmos.
  • Experience teaching Calculus and remedial/corequisite math courses.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit; only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at CMU.
