ABOUT KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission to deliver a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Our proven learning platform offers free, high-quality supplemental learning content and practice that cover Pre-K - 12th grade and early college core academic subjects, focusing on math and science. We have over 155 million registered learners globally and are committed to improving learning outcomes for students worldwide, focusing on learners in historically under-resourced communities.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our students, teachers, and parents come from all walks of life, and so do we. Our team includes people from academia, traditional/non-traditional education, big tech companies, and tiny startups. We hire great people from diverse backgrounds and experiences because it makes our company stronger. We value diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as necessary to achieve our mission and impact the communities we serve. We know that transforming education starts in-house with learning about ourselves and our colleagues. We strive to be world-class in investing in our people and commit to developing you as a professional.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Financial Literacy educator to serve as a Content Associate. By offering high-quality, standards-aligned Financial Literacy lessons for free, we aim to empower millions of learners to take charge of their futures and build brighter financial lives.

The majority of the Financial Literacy course is already created. As a Content Associate, you’ll play a critical role in helping bring it across the finish line—ensuring it is comprehensive, engaging, and aligned with our educational goals. Working under the vision and direction of a Senior Content Designer, and alongside another Content Associate, you’ll contribute to the final stages of course development by creating and refining articles, exercises, and other instructional materials. You’ll use Khan Academy’s content tools and existing resources, along with your own subject matter knowledge and learner-centered thinking, to deliver polished, accessible, and impactful content.

This is a highly collaborative role: you’ll be part of a mission-driven team that values feedback, iteration, and shared ownership. A strong candidate will bring enthusiasm for financial literacy, attention to detail, and a deep belief in the power of education to change lives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Collaborate with the Financial Literacy content team—including the Senior Content Creator and another Content Associate—to support the development of engaging, standards-aligned Financial Literacy assets.
  • Create and curate high-quality learning materials, including interactive exercises and informative articles, using both original work and trusted resources from Khan Academy and external partners.
  • Use our content management tools to maintain, improve, and expand course offerings, ensuring they are relevant, accurate, and learner-centered.
  • Apply your subject matter expertise, research insights, and learner empathy to shape content that supports skill mastery and practical understanding.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Proven ability to create high-impact learning content in your discipline (minimum of 3 years of content development experience in Financial Literacy)
  • Strong intuition for how students like to learn and insight into common misconceptions (minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching/tutoring experience)
  • Experience and aptitude working with appropriate standards sets to ensure coverage and alignment during course development and curation
  • Desire to teach at scale, engage with a broad array of learners, and question your assumptions about what's most important for learners
  • Desire to leverage online tools to publish quickly, gather user feedback, and iterate on content
  • Impeccable command of written communication; an energetic can-do attitude as a fluent and efficient content creator, a keen editorial eye for high-quality text in exercises and articles, and a knack for empowering, supportive peer review
  • Meticulous attention to detail and time management skills
  • Project management skills (e.g. fluent with Google Docs and spreadsheets and other tools) and a willingness to learn new tools
  • A passion for education and a desire to change the world

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience working in personal finance or personal banking
