Job summary

PRIORITY WASTE RESOURCES LLC in Sterling Heights, MI is hiring a Container Delivery Driver responsible for picking up and delivering containers to customer sites. The role requires operating a manual transmission truck, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, and using a Moffett forklift to load/unload containers.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Chauffeur's License, have a clean driving record, and be able to work 10–12 hour shifts including some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Experience using a tablet for work orders.
• Must pass background, physical, and DOT drug screen.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Excellent communication with customers and dispatch is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the truck.
• Operate a manual transmission truck in accordance with DOT and OSHA rules.
• Load and unload containers using a Moffett forklift.
• Complete daily residential routes, ensuring customer locations are left clean.
• Communicate with customers as needed and report issues to dispatch.
• Notify Route Manager of accidents, injuries, or service interruptions.
• Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the vehicle.
• Attend training programs and meetings as required.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Container Delivery Driver you will be picking up and delivering varying sizes of containers to different customers accounts.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs pre and post trip inspections of truck
• Operates manual transmission truck in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws
• Mounts and dismounts a heavy-duty truck many times each day
• Operate a Moffett (forklift truck) to load and unload containers
• Completes assigned residential route daily, leaving the customer’s location free of debris
• Professionally communicates with customers as needed
• Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of any accidents, injuries, property damage, or any other incidents
• Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of any service interruptions such as closed lots, blocked containers, safety hazards etc
• Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair/replacement
• Attends training programs, briefings, and meetings as required
• Communicates customer requests to Route Manager/Dispatch
• Immediately communicates mechanical problems to Mechanic and Supervisor
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicle
• Maintains professional appearance

Qualifications

The successful candidate profile includes:

• Must possess a valid Chauffer's License
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts, including some Saturdays
• Ability to use a tablet to receive work orders
• Must be able to pass criminal background check, physical and DOT drug screen
• Must have safe driving record, including no avoidable accidents in the past five years
• Must have ability to communicate professionally with customers, dispatch and internal customer service
• Must be able to sit, kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl, balance, hear, talk and smell
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• May be required to work in emergency situations
