Job summary

Burnett Staffing Specialists seeks an experienced Consumer Loan Underwriter to join a growing lending team in Houston, TX. You will underwrite direct and indirect consumer loan applications, review credit reports and income, and deliver timely decisions within established lending authority.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of underwriting experience, preferably in a credit union or financial institution, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of consumer loan underwriting experience.
• Experience in a credit union or financial institution preferred.
• Strong understanding of consumer credit and lending guidelines.
• Experience with direct and indirect lending is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite direct and indirect consumer loan applications.
• Review credit reports, income, DTI, collateral values, and overall creditworthiness.
• Approve, decline, or condition loans within assigned lending authority.
• Review loan documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Partner closely with loan officers, branch teams, and lending leadership.
• Identify additional lending opportunities and help grow member relationships.
• Maintain accurate loan files and underwriting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with lending policies and applicable regulations.
• Deliver timely decisions in a fast-paced lending environment.
