Responsibilities

• Research and process Consumer loan account matters such as disputes, transaction/data corrections, payment method modification, and standard payment processing.
• Respond to inquiries related to Consumer Loan Servicing to ensure timely, accurate responses.
• Verify data accuracy in the system and apply corrections as needed.
• Perform post-close processing and verification of new and merger loans.
• Maintain Total Loss processing including disbursements, updates, and member requests.
• Process insurance tracking for auto loans and collateral protection.
• Prepare payoffs, lien releases, verifications, and insurance claims for secured loans.
• Prepare and distribute documents and letters as directed.
• QC on Consumer Loans and related activities.
• Post loan payments, reversals, and corrections.
• Process loan-related waivers and modifications as needed.
• Work with loan servicing partners as directed.
• Cross-train in all areas of Consumer Loan Servicing.

The Job at a Glance

The Consumer Loan Servicing Specialist is responsible for servicing and maintaining consumer loan accounts throughout the life of the loan. They will possess an understanding of all functions within the Consumer Loan Servicing Department. Extensive administrative and member service work with primary responsibilities for the timely and accurate post-close processing, validating, and servicing of member loans. Requires effective communication with members, coworkers, and vendors to ensure coordination and exchange of information. All duties and responsibilities are expected to uphold compliance standards and provide an exceptional member experience.

A Typical Day

• Completes research and processing of Consumer loan account matters such as disputes, transaction/data corrections, payment method modification, and processing standard payment transactions.
• Respond to inquiries related to Consumer Loan Servicing, internally and externally, to assure a timely and accurate response.
• Verify the accuracy of data entered in the system, updating missing information and applying corrections as needed by verification of documentation.
• Complete post-close processing and verification of new loans along with merger loans.
• Responsible for the integrity of Total Loss processing including timely disbursements, updates, and member requests.
• Maintain and process insurance tracking on auto loans where collateral protection insurance has been enforced.
• Prepare and process payoffs, lien releases, verifications, and insurance related claims for secured loans.
• Prepare, complete, and distribute documents, and letters as directed.
• Board and/or conduct QC on Consumer, Loans that are unsecured and secured.
• Post loan payments, reversals, and corrections.
• Process loan late fee waiver request, MRC cancellation, and modification requests such as due date changes or cancellation of life / disability / debt protection.
• Process GAP, credit life / disability / debt protection insurance claims.
• Work with loan servicing business partners as directed.
• Cross train in all areas of the Consumer Loan Servicing Department as directed by Management.
• Take on a leadership role within the Credit Union by living our Mission Statement of helping members achieve their fullest economic potential, increasing community and family financial success.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
