The Consumer Finance Institute (CFI) seeks a well-trained and motivated senior research assistant to support the research of its staff and visiting scholars.
This position offers opportunities to increase knowledge of economics, markets, public policy, and empirical techniques, with potential training in software and programming languages, as well as economics, statistics, and mathematics courses. With experience and demonstrated skills, there may be opportunities for self-directed research leading to reports. Typically, RAs work at the Philadelphia Fed for three years before pursuing graduate studies or careers in economics or related fields.
Previous Senior Research Assistants have advanced to top graduate schools, other departments within the Bank, or positions in consulting, industry, and other Reserve Banks.
You will perform advanced statistical and quantitative analyses, develop and manage databases, and create content for internal and external websites.
Requirements include an undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (economics, finance, mathematics, etc.), two or more years of programming experience, and strong communication skills. Familiarity with data related to consumer credit and payments, and courses in statistics, econometrics, or mathematics are required. Experience with statistical software (R, Stata, Python), database software (SQL, Hive/Postgres), mapping software (ArcGIS), and Hadoop/Spark is preferred. Proficiency with MS Office is expected.
The salary grade for this position is 10/11. Final salary depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.
